Also known as: T4SA, Taurus T4
Overview
The Taurus T4SA is a Brazilian semi-automatic tactical carbine chambered in 5.56x45mm NATO, built on the AR-15/M4 platform. Engineered and manufactured in the United States by Taurus USA, the T4SA features forged upper and lower receivers, a 16-inch Chrome Moly Vanadium (CMV) barrel with a 1:7 twist rate, and ships standard with Magpul CTR stock and M-LOK or KeyMod aluminum handguard. While marketed primarily as a tactical carbine rather than a dedicated sniper rifle, the T4SA can serve in a designated marksman role when fitted with appropriate optics. At just 2.86 kg empty, it is one of the lighter platforms in its class, prioritizing mobility and rapid target engagement over extreme long-range precision.

Notes
The T4SA represents Taurus's entry into the modern sporting rifle market, leveraging the company's existing manufacturing infrastructure in the United States. The rifle is essentially a mil-spec M4-pattern carbine built to Taurus quality standards. The 1:7 twist rate barrel is optimized for heavier 5.56mm projectiles in the 62-77 grain range, making it suitable for precision applications at moderate distances. Standard M4/AR-15 magazines are compatible. The T4SA is designed primarily for the law enforcement and civilian markets in both Brazil and the United States.
Background
The Taurus T4SA marked Taurus's first foray into the AR-15 platform market, representing the Brazilian company's attempt to compete in the crowded American modern sporting rifle segment. While Taurus is best known for its handguns and revolvers, the T4SA demonstrated the company's ambition to offer a complete lineup of military and law enforcement small arms.
