Overview

The Taylor's 1886 Ridge Runner Takedown is a .45-70 Government lever-action rifle with an 18.5-inch half-round, half-octagonal threaded barrel fitted with a muzzle brake. Built on the takedown 1886 action, it wears a matte chrome or matte black finish over a soft-touch-coated walnut stock and forend, an integrated Skinner peep and Weaver rail, a fibre-optic front sight, a D-shaped lever and sling mounts.

Background

A muzzle brake on a .45-70 lever gun would have horrified 1886's buyers, but the cartridge in modern loadings hits far harder than the black-powder rounds the action was designed around.
