Overview
The Taylor's 1892 Alaskan Take-Down is a lever-action rifle chambered in .44 Remington Magnum, built for Taylor's & Company in Italy by Armi Sport di Chiappa. Based on John Browning's Winchester Model 1892 design, it adds an interrupted-thread takedown system that lets the shooter separate the barrel and magazine tube from the receiver without tools, breaking the rifle into two compact sections for stowage in a pack or bush plane. It features a hardwood stock with rubber Softouch overmolding, a rubber recoil pad, a Skinner Express rear sight and a fiber-optic front sight, offered with a matte-chrome or black finish and a 16- or 20-inch barrel.

Background
The takedown concept revives a feature Winchester offered on its own Model 1892 a century earlier, repackaged for the modern back-country hunter who needs a compact, hard-hitting rifle that fits in a pack frame.
