The TC9 family adapts the Old West 1873 single-action design to the modern 9x19mm cartridge; this Flattop Birdshead Ivory model uses a nickel finish, flattop frame profile and birdshead grip with a 3.5-inch barrel (9.06-inch overall length) and a half-fluted cylinder. Like the other TC9s it retains a fixed hammer-mounted firing pin (no transfer bar) with a manual cylinder/base-pin safety, and headspaces the rimless 9mm on the case mouth rather than using moon clips.

The TC9 answers a modern reality: 9mm Luger is often the cheapest, most available centerfire cartridge on the shelf.
