TOZ-18
Tula Arms Plant · Rifle · Discontinued · 1957
Also known as: ТОЗ-18, TOZ 18
Overview
The TOZ-18 is a .22 Long Rifle bolt-action rifle produced by the Tula Arms Plant, a member of the TOZ-17 series of Soviet rimfire sporting and hunting rifles. It is essentially the TOZ-17 redesigned to accept a 2.5x fixed-focus optical sight mounted on the standard dovetail, feeding from a 5-round detachable box magazine. Like its siblings it uses a free-floating barrel for improved accuracy and a twin-extractor bolt for positive case ejection, set in a hardwood sporting stock.

Notes
The TOZ-18 differs from the base TOZ-17 mainly in being factory-fitted with a low-power 2.5x fixed-focus scope, making it a light scoped rimfire for small-game hunting and target practice. The series was later succeeded by the TOZ-78.
Background
The TOZ-18 was one of the earliest Soviet factory-scoped .22 rifles aimed at ordinary hunters, pairing the rugged twin-extractor TOZ-17 action with a fixed 2.5x optic so a shooter could take small game without the fuss of adjustable optics.
