Overview
The TOZ-99 is a Russian semi-automatic .22 Long Rifle sporting and hunting rifle produced by the Tula Arms Plant. Introduced in 1997 and derived from the earlier bolt-action TOZ-78, it operates on a simple blowback (free-bolt) action, feeds from a detachable 5- or 10-round box magazine, and was developed primarily for commercial hunting of small fur-bearing animals and birds. It has a 534 mm rifled barrel, a wooden stock of birch, beech, or walnut, and open mechanical sights with provisions for mounting an optical sight.

Chambered for the 5.6x16 (.22 LR) rimfire cartridge. Variants include the TOZ-99-01 with a quick-detachable barrel and optic rail and the TOZ-99-04 with a threaded muzzle. Reported accuracy is roughly 30-50 mm four-shot groups at 50 m with standard ammunition.
Background
Tula's TOZ-99 was created specifically for Russia's commercial fur trappers, trading the precision of a target rifle for the rugged simplicity of a blowback autoloader that could work reliably in the taiga against squirrel and small game.
