Overview

The Troy Long Rifle (TLR) MK12 is a designated-marksman-style AR-15 chambered in 223 Wylde/5.56 NATO, built for pinpoint accuracy at extended range. It pairs an 18-inch barrel with a 1:8 right-hand twist and the TROY TPRS flash hider, governed by a 4.5-pound two-stage trigger. Built on forged 7075 aluminum receivers with black Type III hard-coat anodizing, the MK12 carries a TROY 15-inch Gen2 SOCC M-LOK rail, a TROY Pneuma ambidextrous charging handle, a B5 Enhanced SOPMOD stock, an Ergo SureGrip, and TROY 45-degree offset sights. The MK12 name references the U.S. military Mk 12 Special Purpose Rifle, an accurized 18-inch AR-15 used as a lightweight precision and designated-marksman rifle.

Background

The Mk 12 Special Purpose Rifle that inspires this model's name was developed by U.S. special operations armorers in the early 2000s to give operators an accurate, suppressor-ready 5.56 rifle that split the difference between a carbine and a dedicated sniper rifle.
