Type 67
China North Industries Corporation (Norinco) · Pistol · In Production · 1967
Also known as: Type 67 silenced pistol, Type 67 suppressed pistol
Overview
The Type 67 is a Chinese integrally suppressed semi-automatic pistol developed as a successor to the earlier Type 64 silenced pistol. Chambered for the rimless 7.62x17mm Type 64 cartridge, it operates on a blowback action and carries a tubular integral suppressor that fully encircles the barrel, giving it a cleaner cylindrical profile than the Type 64. A cross-bolt slide lock allows the slide to be locked for completely silent single-shot operation, while unlocking it restores normal semi-automatic cycling. It was issued to People's Liberation Army reconnaissance and special-purpose units for covert and close-range engagements.

Notes
The integral suppressor uses a wire-mesh and baffle stack around the barrel. Locking the slide eliminates the mechanical and gas noise of the action cycling, producing near-silent single shots at the cost of manual cycling between rounds.
Background
Designed to replace the bulkier Type 64, the Type 67 became one of the longest-serving suppressed pistols in Chinese service and a recognizable tool of PLA reconnaissance and clandestine units before the later QSW-06 began to supplant it.
