Overview
The Ugartechea Model 40 is a Spanish side-by-side break-action shotgun built by Armas Ugartechea in Eibar. It uses a Deeley-type boxlock action with free-floating firing pins, and its frame and demi-block barrels are forged from chopper-lump steel. Offered in 12, 16, 20, 28 gauge and .410 bore with 26-, 27- or 28-inch barrels, 2 3/4-inch chambers and a choice of single or double triggers, the base Model 40N uses dual extractors while the Model 40N EX adds selective automatic ejectors, making it a durable and affordable Eibar-region game and sporting gun.

Notes
Chambered for 2 3/4-inch (70 mm) shells. Four interchangeable choke configurations offered. The Model 40N uses plain dual extractors; the Model 40N EX substitutes selective automatic ejectors. Piston heads, front beavertails and other accessories are available at extra cost.
Background
Armas Ugartechea was founded by Ignacio Ugartechea in 1922 in Eibar, the heart of the Basque gunmaking region, and earned a reputation for boxlock and sidelock doubles that offer traditional hand craftsmanship at a fraction of the price of the great English houses.
