Overview
The Walther P99Q is a striker-fired, short-recoil operated semi-automatic pistol chambered in 9x19mm Parabellum, developed by Carl Walther GmbH as a dedicated law enforcement variant of the P99 platform. Certified to the Technical Specifications (TR) of the German Police, the P99Q employs a partially pre-loaded internal striker with a consistent double-action-only style trigger: trigger travel of roughly 13 mm, a reset of about 6 mm, and a pull weight of approximately 32 N. The polymer frame carries interchangeable backstraps, an accessory rail, an ambidextrous slide-stop and a reversible magazine release, while the 15-round magazine and internal safeties are tailored to police duty use. Manufactured exclusively for German and foreign police departments, the P99Q has been adopted by numerous German state police forces as well as agencies in Finland and Poland, and is not offered on the civilian market.

Notes
The 'Q' designates the German police certification variant; it differs from the civilian P99 QA (Quick Action) discontinued in 2011. The P99Q retains a partially cocked striker meeting German police trigger specifications.
