The Weatherby Mark V Backcountry Capra is an ultralight mountain-hunting bolt-action rifle introduced for 2026 and marketed as the lightest production bolt-action rifle ever made, with its lightest .308 Winchester configuration weighing about 4 pounds. It is built on a titanium Mark V six-lug short action with a 54-degree bolt throw, a double-spiral-fluted barrel, a Peak 44 Bridger carbon-fiber stock, a TriggerTech trigger, and an included Accubrake ST muzzle brake. Offered in 6.5 Creedmoor and a range of short-action and Weatherby cartridges, it targets sheep, goat, and high-country hunters who count every ounce.

Background
