Overview
The Western Field Model 50 is a side-by-side, break-action double-barrel shotgun sold under Montgomery Ward's house brand. It was a private-label version of the J. Stevens Arms Co. Model 530, a hammerless boxlock double chambered in 12 gauge with double triggers and extractors. Built on the Stevens 5100/530 boxlock action, the gun featured a case-hardened receiver, blued barrels, and a checkered walnut pistol-grip stock. It was an inexpensive, utility-grade field and hunting shotgun typical of mid-20th-century American mail-order firearms.
