Overview
The Winchester Model 770 is a bolt-action sporting rifle produced from 1969 to 1971 as an economy version of the Winchester Model 70. To reduce cost, it omitted the hinged floorplate and forend tip, instead using the blind magazine of the Model 670 while retaining the Model 70's three-position safety and a walnut Monte Carlo stock. Chambered in popular hunting cartridges including .30-06 Springfield, it was offered with a 22-inch barrel and open sights.

Background
Introduced at the same time as the redesigned 'push-feed' Model 70 of 1968-1971, the Model 770 sat at the bottom of Winchester's bolt-action lineup as a value-priced hunting rifle before being dropped after only three years.
