Overview
The Windham Weaponry CDI is a feature-upgraded semi-automatic AR-15 rifle chambered in 5.56x45mm NATO/.223 Remington, built around a direct-impingement gas system and forged 7075-T6 aluminum receivers. It distinguishes itself from the company's plainer carbines with a full complement of Diamondhead components: a 10.25-inch free-floating V-RS 'X' quad-rail handguard and Diamondhead dual-aperture flip-up front and rear iron sights. The 16-inch M4-profile barrel is made from chrome-lined 4150 chrome-moly-vanadium steel with a 1-in-9-inch right-hand twist and is capped with an A2 flash suppressor. A Magpul MOE six-position telescoping buttstock and MOE pistol grip round out the package, which weighs roughly seven pounds empty and feeds from a 30-round detachable box magazine. The result is a well-appointed, range-ready rifle that ships from the factory with a usable sighting system already installed.

Reviewers have noted the model designation 'CDI' as a tongue-in-cheek marketing acronym, but Windham Weaponry has never officially defined it. The rifle's standout feature is the Diamondhead sight and handguard suite, which gives it a free-floated barrel for improved accuracy over standard drop-in handguard carbines. Overall length ranges from about 32.4 inches with the Magpul stock collapsed to roughly 36.1 inches fully extended.
