The Windham Weaponry SRC (Sight Ready Carbine) is a reliable, no-frills AR-15 carbine chambered in 5.56x45mm NATO/.223 Remington, representing the continuation of quality Maine-made firearms following the departure of Bushmaster from the state. The rifle features a 16-inch M4 profile barrel made from 4150 Chrome Moly Vanadium steel with chrome lining for enhanced durability and corrosion resistance. The barrel is topped with a removable A2 flash suppressor and has a 1:9-inch right-hand twist rate suitable for 55-62 grain bullets. The forged 7075-T6 aircraft aluminum receivers are finished with hardcoat black anodize. The flat-top M4A4 type upper receiver features a full-length Picatinny rail for mounting optics and accessories. The rifle utilizes a traditional M4 double heat shield polymer handguard and 6-position telescoping buttstock with A2 black polymer pistol grip. The gas impingement system provides proven reliability in a straightforward, cost-effective package. The SRC comes with a hard case, web sling, and operator's manual, making it an excellent value for shooters seeking a dependable AR-15 without unnecessary features.

Windham Weaponry was founded in 2011 by Richard Dyke, the original founder of Bushmaster Firearms, after Bushmaster was sold and moved out of Maine to New York. When Dyke's non-compete clause expired, he gathered financing in just two days and reopened the Windham, Maine manufacturing facility, rehiring many former Bushmaster employees. The company's founding story emphasizes bringing jobs back to Maine workers who lost their positions when Bushmaster relocated. The SRC model name stands for 'Sight Ready Carbine,' indicating it ships without iron sights to allow buyers to choose their preferred optics. The 1:9 twist rate is considered optimal for the most common 55-grain M193 and 62-grain M855 military ammunition. Windham Weaponry temporarily ceased operations in September 2023 following Richard Dyke's death at age 89 but was revived under new ownership and resumed operations in 2024. The company maintains the original Bushmaster quality standards and manufacturing processes that made Maine-produced AR-15s highly regarded.
