Overview
The Windham Weaponry SRC 300 is a semi-automatic AR-15 carbine chambered in .300 AAC Blackout, offering the Maine-built Sight Ready Carbine platform in a cartridge optimized for short barrels and suppressed use. It is built around a 16-inch medium-profile barrel of 4150 Chrome Moly Vanadium 11595E steel with M4 feed ramps and a fast 1-in-7-inch right-hand twist, chosen to stabilize the heavy subsonic and supersonic projectiles typical of the .300 Blackout round. The barrel is capped with an A2 flash suppressor. Forged 7075-T6 aircraft aluminum upper and lower receivers wear a hardcoat black anodized finish, and the flat-top upper carries a full-length Picatinny rail so the buyer can mount the optic of their choice. A direct-impingement gas system cycles the action, feeding from a standard 30-round detachable box magazine. The rifle uses an M4 double heat shield handguard and a 6-position telescoping buttstock, giving an overall length of about 918 mm extended and roughly 822 mm collapsed while weighing around 2,790 g empty. The .300 Blackout chambering lets shooters run heavy subsonic loads for quiet, suppressed shooting or supersonic loads for hunting and defensive work, all through the familiar AR-15 manual of arms.

The SRC 300 shares the standard SRC (Sight Ready Carbine) platform but is chambered in .300 AAC Blackout rather than 5.56x45mm NATO. The model carries Windham Weaponry catalog number R16FTT-300. Because .300 Blackout was designed to use unmodified 5.56 magazines and bolts while delivering 7.62mm-class terminal performance from short barrels, the SRC 300 is popular for suppressed and home-defense roles. The 1:7 twist rate is deliberately fast to stabilize the long, heavy bullets used in subsonic .300 Blackout loads. Windham Weaponry was founded in 2011 by Richard Dyke, the original founder of Bushmaster, to bring firearms manufacturing jobs back to Windham, Maine. The company temporarily ceased operations in September 2023 following Dyke's death and resumed under new ownership in 2024.
Background
The SRC 300 reflects the .300 Blackout boom of the 2010s, when American AR-15 makers rushed to offer the AAC-developed cartridge that promised 7.62mm punch and effortless suppression from a rifle that still fed from ordinary 5.56 magazines.
