Overview
The XT100 is a Taiwanese experimental gas-operated, select-fire assault rifle developed by the 205th Armory of the Combined Logistics Command. Built on an AR-15-style layout, it uses a short-stroke gas piston operating system and a forward quad rail, and is chambered in the 6.8mm Remington SPC cartridge. The 'XT' designation stands for 'Experimental Type', reflecting its role as a technology demonstrator unveiled around 2011 at the Taipei Aerospace & Defense Technology Exhibition. The 6.8 SPC chambering aimed to deliver greater terminal energy than the 5.56x45mm NATO round used by Taiwan's existing T91 service rifle.
