Overview
The XT102 is a Taiwanese prototype assault rifle developed by the Armaments Bureau's 202nd Arsenal as part of the Type XT modernization program intended to replace the T65 and T91 service rifles. Chambered in 5.56x45mm NATO, it uses a short-stroke gas piston system reminiscent of the FN SCAR paired with an AK-pattern rotating bolt, a one-piece aluminum upper receiver, a folding stock with adjustable cheek rest, and fully ambidextrous controls. The XT102 was one of several Type XT prototypes that informed the later XT112 / T112 rifle ultimately selected for the Taiwanese military.

Background
Taiwan began developing a modern domestic assault rifle in 2008, unveiling the first Type XT97 prototype around 2012. The XT102 and its siblings represented an evolution toward a SCAR-style short-stroke piston design before the program matured into the XT112, selected as the Republic of China Army's new standard rifle.
