Overview
The XT105 is a Taiwanese modular 5.56x45mm NATO gas-operated carbine developed by the 205th Armory of the Ministry of National Defense's Armament Bureau, publicly unveiled in 2015. A refinement of the earlier XT97 prototype, it uses an extruded single-piece aluminum upper receiver and a polymer lower, and accepts interchangeable 300mm, 360mm and 450mm barrels for field-swappable configuration. It drops the three-round burst of the T91 in favor of a lower-rate full-automatic mode for better control, and adds an ambidextrous layout, a collapsible stock, full-length Picatinny rail with M-Lok/KeyMod mounting, and forward shell ejection to protect the operator. It was intended as a successor to the T91 but remained a demonstrator and was not adopted for general service.

Notes
The first XT105 off the production line was gold-plated for the 2015 press unveiling. Inherits Kalashnikov-derived mechanical DNA from the XT97 lineage mated to a revised gas system. Public specifications for weight, overall length and rate of fire have not been released.
Background
Unveiled in 2015 with a gold-plated demonstrator, the XT105 was the 205th Armory's bid to replace the T91 with a modular, quick-barrel-change rifle - a follow-on to the XT97 that combined Kalashnikov-derived internals with a new gas system, but it never advanced past the prototype stage.
