Overview
The Girsan Yavuz 16 is a semi-automatic pistol chambered in 9x19mm Parabellum, manufactured by the Turkish firm Girsan. The base Regard-pattern model is closely patterned after the Italian Beretta 92FS, using a short-recoil, locked-breech action with a Walther P38-type vertically tilting locking piece to lock the barrel and slide together. It is a hammer-fired, double-action/single-action design with an exposed hammer and ambidextrous, slide-mounted safety and decocking levers. The aluminum-alloy frame carries an open-top steel slide and a 15-round double-stack magazine, giving the pistol the familiar handling, balance, and silhouette of the Beretta service pistol it emulates. The Yavuz 16 serves with elements of the Turkish armed forces and police and is exported as an affordable full-size service and duty handgun, with compact (Bora) and longer-barrelled (Tugra) variants derived from the same platform.

Background
Founded in 1994, Girsan built its reputation on affordable, robust clones of established Western service pistols. The Yavuz 16 - its take on the Beretta 92FS - became a workhorse sidearm for Turkish police and military units and a popular export, demonstrating Turkey's growing capacity to produce credible domestic small arms.
