Overview

The Zastava M02 Coyote is a Serbian 12.7x108mm tripod-mounted heavy machine gun produced by Zastava Arms. Derived from the Soviet NSV design, it is a gas-operated, belt-fed, air-cooled weapon with a quick-change barrel, intended to engage lightly armoured vehicles, fortifications, low-flying aircraft and personnel out to long range. It serves with the Serbian Armed Forces and has been offered for export, with exported examples documented in the Syrian conflict.

Background

The Coyote is Zastava's modernised take on the Soviet NSV, giving Serbia a domestically produced heavy machine gun for infantry, vehicle and anti-aircraft mounts after the breakup of Yugoslavia.
