Overview

The Zastava M05 is an upgraded assault rifle based on the Kalashnikov gas-operated system, designed to modernize the Serbian military's M70 platform. Chambered in 7.62x39mm with a 415mm cold hammer-forged chrome-lined barrel, the M05 features a folding polymer stock, gas flow regulator, compensator, and tritium-illuminated iron sights. The E-series variants (E1, E2, E3) differ primarily in optics mounting: E1 has basic iron sights, E2 adds a side rail, and E3 features a full-length Picatinny rail on the receiver cover. The compact C1 variant serves as a submachine gun, while the G1 variant is configured as a light machine gun with a fluted barrel for improved cooling.
