Overview
The Zastava M70 Hunting Rifle is a bolt-action sporting rifle built on the proven Mauser 98 controlled-feed action, manufactured by Zastava Arms in Kragujevac, Serbia. Available in 19 calibers from .22-250 Remington to .458 Winchester Magnum, the M70 has been the backbone of Zastava's civilian rifle lineup since the 1970s. The action features a controlled-round feed with a massive non-rotating claw extractor, a fixed blade ejector, and a three-position wing safety. Barrels are cold hammer-forged with a choice of 560mm or 600mm lengths depending on caliber. The rifle is offered with single, single DAT (Direct Action Trigger), or double set triggers, and walnut stocks in either Pig Back or Monte Carlo configurations. Laminated wood stocks are also available. The M70 is renowned for its robust construction, smooth bolt cycling, and accuracy potential that belies its relatively modest price point.

Background
The Zastava M70 hunting rifle shares its name but not its design with the famous M70 assault rifle. While the assault rifle is based on the Kalashnikov system, the hunting rifle is built on the classic Mauser 98 action - a fitting choice for a company headquartered in the same city where Serbian King Peter I established a modern arms factory in 1853.
