Also known as: PAP M77, M77 B1, Zastava M77
Overview
The Zastava ZPAP M77 is a Serbian gas-operated, semi-automatic rifle chambered in .308 Winchester (7.62x51mm NATO). Built on an enlarged Kalashnikov-pattern action derived from Zastava's M70 series, it uses a 1.5mm bulged trunnion receiver, a double-stack bolt, and a cold hammer-forged, chrome-lined 500mm barrel with an adjustable gas block. Originally developed in the late 1970s as the military M77 chambered for the full-power 7.62x51mm cartridge, the ZPAP M77 is the modern commercial rifle exported by Zastava Arms USA, valued as an accurate battle rifle and designated-marksman platform.

Background
Zastava developed the M77 to give its Kalashnikov-pattern rifle family the reach and terminal energy of the 7.62x51mm NATO round, effectively scaling up the M70 action to accept the larger Western cartridge for use as a squad marksman and battle rifle.
