Notes

The A-545 passed Russian military trials (2015-2017) competing against the AK-12. Both rifles were adopted, with the A-545 designated for Special Forces and select units while the AK-12 serves as the standard-issue rifle. The 'KORD' name (referring to the balanced-action system) is used by Spetsnaz operators. Production transferred from Kovrov Mechanical Plant (KMZ) to Degtyarev Plant (ZiD) in Kovrov. Compatible with all standard AK-74 magazines (30-round), RPK-74 (45-round), and 60-round drum magazines. The modernization added approximately 200 grams compared to the original AEK-971 due to enhanced furniture and rail systems.

Background

The A-545 won adoption alongside its competitor, the AK-12, in an unprecedented decision where Russian military trials recommended both rifles. The balanced-action system reduces felt recoil by 15-20% during automatic fire, giving operators a decisive accuracy advantage in sustained engagements.
