Notes
The Barrett M95 was developed as a more portable and cost-effective alternative to the semi-automatic M82/M107 series. The bullpup design reduces overall length by approximately 12 inches compared to a conventional layout with the same barrel length, significantly improving transportability. The bolt-action mechanism, while slower to cycle than the semi-automatic M82, provides a slightly more rigid platform that some shooters find advantageous for precision shooting. The M95 features a large muzzle brake to manage recoil, and the chrome-lined barrel and chamber provide extended service life in harsh conditions. Late production M95 models (sometimes referred to as M95M) feature a Picatinny sight rail in place of the earlier scope bracket, and are available in anodized black or tan finish. The Barrett M99 is a related single-shot variant with a longer barrel for maximum precision. The M95 is used by military and law enforcement organizations in at least 15 countries.
Background
The M95's bullpup layout makes it nearly a foot shorter than a conventionally laid-out .50 BMG rifle with the same barrel length, a critical advantage when special forces operators need to transport a .50-caliber capability into positions where every inch of concealment matters.
