Browning X-Bolt 2

Browning Arms Company · Rifle · In Production · 2024

Also known as: X-Bolt 2, X-Bolt II

Overview

The Browning X-Bolt 2 is the second-generation evolution of Browning's popular X-Bolt bolt-action hunting rifle, introduced in 2024. It retains the proven X-Bolt action architecture - a 60-degree short-throw bolt with three locking lugs engaging a barrel extension and the proprietary X-Lock four-screw scope mounting system - while adding significant refinements. Chief among them is the new DLX trigger, a three-lever design with zero take-up, zero creep and zero overtravel that comes factory-set around 3.5 pounds and adjusts down to roughly 3 pounds, plus a redesigned patented rotary detachable magazine that loads and feeds more smoothly than the original. Many configurations feature the new Vari-Tech modular stock system, which offers tool-adjustable length of pull and comb height along with interchangeable sporter and vertical grip modules to tailor fit. Offered across a broad range of popular hunting cartridges from .243 Winchester through .300 Winchester Magnum and the 6.8 Western, the X-Bolt 2 is positioned as a do-everything modern hunting rifle.

Background

Browning launched the X-Bolt 2 at SHOT Show 2024 alongside a 20-gauge A5, with the new DLX trigger and Vari-Tech adjustable stock headlining the upgrades - a rare ground-up refresh of a platform that had already become one of the best-selling hunting bolt-actions in North America.
