Overview

The Century Arms BFT47 (Bulged Forged Trunnion 47) is an American-made AKM-pattern rifle chambered in 7.62x39mm, named for its hot-die-forged 4140 steel front trunnion - a feature borrowed from premium Russian and Bulgarian AKs that improves durability at the receiver's highest-stress point. It is built on a 1.5mm stamped receiver with a chrome-lined chrome-moly barrel, RAK-1 enhanced trigger, side optic rail, bolt hold-open safety, bayonet lug, and American maple furniture.

Background

The BFT47's bulged, hot-forged trunnion answered the single most common failure point of stamped AKs - trunnion cracking under sustained fire - bringing a feature once reserved for top-tier military Kalashnikovs to an affordable American rifle.
