Also known as: Chapuis Elan Artisan Side-by-Side
Overview
The Chapuis Elan Artisan is a French-made side-by-side break-action double rifle built for dangerous-game hunting. Chambered for classic African cartridges including .450/400 Nitro Express and .470 Nitro Express, it uses a coin-finished boxlock action with fully hand-engraved sideplates depicting acanthus leaves, geometric scrolls and African game animals. The Artisan grade is distinguished from the Classic by its higher 5A-grade figured walnut and hand engraving, and features automatic ejectors, double triggers, and express sights on regulated barrels.

Notes
The Artisan differs from the Classic Elan primarily in finish: hand-engraved sideplates and 5A-grade walnut versus the Classic's laser engraving and AAA-grade walnut. Barrels are regulated to converge at typical dangerous-game ranges. Length of pull approximately 15.3 in (389 mm).
Background
Chapuis Armes of Saint-Bonnet-le-Chateau, France, joined the Beretta Holding group and introduced the Elan line as a modernized African double rifle. The Artisan grade revives the tradition of bespoke London-style big-bore doubles, each pair of barrels hand-regulated to place both shots together at close range on Cape buffalo and elephant.
