Notes

The CZ P-09 was originally marketed as the CZ P-09 Duty. It shares the Omega trigger system with the compact CZ P-07, which is a simplified and modular redesign of the traditional CZ 75 trigger mechanism. A key feature is the ability for the end user to swap between a manual safety and a decocker without gunsmithing, using included parts. The .40 S&W variant was discontinued in 2018, while the 9mm model remains in production. CZ considered submitting the P-09 to the U.S. military's Modular Handgun System (MHS) competition but ultimately did not make a formal entry. The pistol ships with two magazines, interchangeable backstraps in three sizes (S, M, L), and is factory-zeroed to 25 meters. In 2025, CZ introduced the P-09 C Nocturne, a compact variant with a shorter barrel and slide.

Background

CZ considered entering the P-09 in the U.S. military's Modular Handgun System competition but ultimately did not submit a formal entry, leaving the field to SIG Sauer, Glock, Beretta, and others. The P-09's user-swappable safety/decocker configuration anticipated the military's emphasis on modularity.
