Also known as: DANiNJECT JM.DB, JM DB, JM.DB.11 / JM.DB.13, Dan-Inject Model JM DB Double Barrel CO2 Injection Rifle

Overview

The Dan-Inject JM.DB Double Barrel is a Danish CO2-powered veterinary tranquilizer dart rifle built around a unique twin-barrel arrangement, carrying both an 11mm rifled barrel and a 13mm smooth barrel side by side on a single receiver. Rather than a lethal firearm, it fires a self-injecting projectile syringe (dart) propelled by adjustable compressed CO2, delivering anaesthetic or medication to wildlife, zoo animals, and livestock from a distance. The double barrel lets an operator switch instantly between the two bore sizes and dart volumes without re-sighting the rifle, so the correct dose can be chosen in the field once the animal and situation are assessed.

Notes

Described by the maker as the only tranquilizer rifle in the world using a double-barrel technique. The 11mm rifled barrel handles 1.5cc and 3.0cc darts out to roughly 70 yards; the 13mm smooth barrel handles 5.0cc and 10.0cc darts out to roughly 45 yards. Propulsion pressure is silently adjustable up to about 25 bar, powered by 16g, 45g, or 74g CO2 cartridges. It is a remote drug-delivery injection system regulated as veterinary/animal-capture equipment, not a conventional firearm.

Background

DANiNJECT rifles are a mainstay of modern wildlife conservation, used to sedate rhinos, elephants, big cats, and other animals for medical treatment, translocation, and anti-poaching relocation programmes across Africa and beyond. The JM.DB's dual barrels let a veterinarian carry two dose classes ready at once for unpredictable field encounters.
