Notes
The G29 shares its frame dimensions with the G30 (.45 ACP), making both subcompact models nearly identical in size. The 10mm Auto's higher pressure and velocity make recoil management more challenging in the subcompact platform, but the Gen4's dual recoil spring assembly helps mitigate this. Compatible with 15-round Glock 20 magazines with grip extension. The G29 Gen4 has been discontinued in favor of the Gen5 variant.
Background
The Glock 29 earned a cult following among backcountry hikers and hunters in bear country as a lightweight backup to a larger sidearm. When the 10mm Auto experienced a renaissance in the 2020s driven by demand for effective handgun cartridges against dangerous game, the G29 saw renewed interest as the most compact factory 10mm option available. The Danish Sirius Patrol, an elite Arctic dog sled unit operating in Greenland, reportedly carried the Glock 20/29 platform for polar bear defense.
