Overview
The Kalashnikov PPK-20 is a selective-fire 9×19mm Parabellum submachine gun and the modernized successor to the PP-19-01 Vityaz-SN. Operating on simple blowback from a closed bolt, it retains the Vityaz's AK-pattern receiver and parts commonality while adding a lighter, more compact package, a folding telescopic polymer buttstock, an ergonomic pistol grip, ambidextrous fire-selector controls, Picatinny and M-LOK accessory mounting, and a quick-detachable sound-and-flash suppressor. Approved for serial production in 2020 and fielded from 2022, it is issued to Russian armed forces, security services and law enforcement, and is intended in part to arm aircrews, vehicle crews and personal-security personnel who need a compact automatic weapon.

Notes
Finalized from the earlier Vityaz-MO, itself derived from the PP-19-01 Vityaz-SN. A subcompact PDW-style Compact version (side-folding, diopter rear sight, ambidextrous safety) was shown at Army-2021 for combat aircraft pilots and similar users. Widely reported in use by Russian special forces during the invasion of Ukraine from 2022.

The 'PPK' designation stands for Pistolet-Pulemyot Kalashnikova (Kalashnikov submachine gun), and the '20' marks its 2020 approval for service.
