Overview

The Knight's Armament M110K5 is a suppressor-optimized 7.62mm NATO semi-automatic carbine representing the latest evolution of the legendary M110/SR-25 platform. Designed to significantly reduce the length and weight normally associated with suppressed 7.62mm platforms, the M110K5 features a 14.5-inch cold hammer-forged, chrome-lined barrel made from 32CrMoV12-10 steel with a hybrid light profile. The rifle is purpose-built to cover the full spectrum of precision engagement from close quarters to 800 meters, whether suppressed or unsuppressed. The high-pressure dual ejector bolt is specifically engineered to enhance performance in both firing conditions while extending the rifle's service life. The M110K5 is compatible with KAC's Quick Detach Coupling (QDC) 7.62mm signature reduction devices as well as direct-thread semi-permanent suppressor options, and uses M-LOK handguard attachment for a streamlined accessory interface.

Notes

The M110K5 represents KAC's response to the modern military requirement for compact, suppressed precision rifles that can operate in both CQB and designated marksman roles. The commercial variant is designated the SR-25 K5. The M110K1 variant, ordered by NSWC Crane for USSOCOM in 2019, converts existing M110s to 6.5mm Creedmoor with 14.5-inch and 22-inch barreled configurations. The 32CrMoV12-10 barrel steel is a European specification alloy chosen for superior heat resistance and barrel life compared to standard 4150 chrome-moly steel. The B5 Systems collapsible precision buttstock provides a compact package without sacrificing cheek weld consistency.

Background

The M110K5 continues the legacy of the SR-25 platform that Eugene Stoner designed in the early 1990s, but optimized for the reality that modern special operations forces fight suppressed as a default, not an exception. Where the original M110 SASS was a 20-inch barreled precision rifle with a suppressor added as an accessory, the K5 was designed from the ground up around the suppressor as an integral part of the weapon system.
