Also known as: 940 JM Pro, Mossberg 940 Jerry Miculek Pro
Overview
The Mossberg 940 JM Pro is a gas-operated semi-automatic 12-gauge competition shotgun developed in collaboration with world champion speed shooter Jerry Miculek. Purpose-built for 3-gun and multi-gun competition, the 940 JM Pro features a 24-inch ported barrel for reduced muzzle rise, a self-regulating gas system with nickel-boron coated internals capable of running 1,500 rounds between cleanings, an oversized and beveled loading gate designed for quad-loading, extended bolt release, and oversized charging handle. The competition-focused design emphasizes speed of operation and reliability under the demanding conditions of competitive shooting, where a single malfunction can cost a match. The 940 JM Pro established the platform that Mossberg later adapted into the tactical, field, waterfowl, and turkey variants.

Notes
The 940 JM Pro was the first model in the 940 platform, introduced at SHOT Show 2020. Jerry Miculek provided direct input on the design, particularly the enlarged loading gate, oversized controls, and gas system tuning. The 24-inch ported barrel is specifically chosen for 3-gun competition to provide optimal pattern density at typical stage distances while reducing felt recoil for faster follow-up shots. Available in 24-inch (standard) and custom barrel configurations. Magazine capacity: 9+1 with 2.75" shells. The Accu-Choke system accepts interchangeable choke tubes. MSRP: approximately $1,015-$1,100.
Background
The 940 JM Pro was born from a partnership between Mossberg and Jerry Miculek, widely considered the greatest speed shooter in history, holding multiple world records including firing 6 shots from a revolver in under one second. Miculek's competitive experience directly shaped the 940 platform's enlarged loading gate, which allows quad-loading straight from the box - a technique he helped popularize in competitive shooting. The 940 JM Pro quickly became one of the most popular semi-auto shotguns in 3-gun competition.
