Overview
The MTs-116M is a Russian bolt-action sniper rifle developed in 1997 by the Central Design Bureau for Sporting and Hunting Arms (TsKIB SOO) in Tula. Derived from the single-shot MTs-116 match rifle, it is chambered in 7.62x54mmR and uses a manually operated rotary bolt with two front locking lugs. It features a heavy, free-floated barrel with a flash hider, a wooden stock with adjustable buttplate, cheek rest and rear monopod, and a folding bipod, feeding from 5- or 10-round detachable box magazines. With quality ammunition it delivers sub-MOA accuracy at ranges up to 800 meters.

Background
The MTs-116M grew directly out of the MTs-116 target rifle used by Soviet and Russian competitive shooters, giving law-enforcement snipers a service weapon with match-rifle pedigree built by TsKIB SOO, the same Tula bureau famous for its hand-fitted competition and hunting arms.
