Overview
The ORSIS SE T-5000 M is an improved variant of the T-5000 precision bolt-action sniper rifle manufactured by ORSIS (Promtechnology Group) in Moscow, Russia. Chambered in .308 Winchester and .338 Lapua Magnum, the T-5000 M features a fluted stainless steel barrel, a slotted three-chamber muzzle brake claimed to reduce felt recoil by up to 50%, and a modular aluminum alloy chassis with an adjustable folding stock. The rifle is designed to deliver sub-MOA accuracy and represents Russia's answer to Western precision sniper platforms like the Accuracy International AW series. First introduced in 2011 as the T-5000, the modernized T-5000 M variant incorporates refinements to the trigger, stock ergonomics, and rail system.

The ORSIS T-5000 gained international attention when Russian President Vladimir Putin was photographed firing one at a shooting range in 2012. The rifle was subsequently adopted by the FSB, FSO, and other Russian security services. ORSIS produces the T-5000 at their Moscow factory using CNC-machined components, representing a departure from Russia's traditionally mass-produced military firearms. The .338 Lapua variant uses a 698mm barrel with appropriate twist rate for heavier bullets. Available calibers also include .260 Remington, 6.5x47mm Lapua, and .300 Winchester Magnum in addition to the primary .308 Win and .338 Lapua offerings.
Background
The ORSIS T-5000 became famous when Vladimir Putin personally test-fired one in September 2012 at a shooting range, hitting targets at 600 meters. The rifle was specifically developed to reduce Russian dependence on imported Western precision sniper rifles, and its adoption by the FSB marked the first time a domestically designed bolt-action precision rifle was chosen over foreign alternatives.
