Also known as: Pietta 1873 GWII Posse, Pietta GW II Posse, Pietta Great Western II Posse II, EMF 1873 Posse
Overview
The Pietta Great Western II Posse is a compact single-action revolver that reproduces the Colt 1873 Single Action Army in a short-barrelled, carry-oriented configuration. Distinguished within the Great Western II line by its 3.5-inch barrel with an ejector-rod housing running to the muzzle, the Posse chambers the .45 Colt cartridge and feeds from a six-round revolving cylinder loaded through a side gate. It pairs a color case-hardened steel frame with a blued barrel and cylinder, smooth walnut grips, a fixed front-blade sight and a grooved top strap serving as the rear-sight channel, delivering the classic frontier six-shooter in a handier package.

Notes
Named short-barrel model in Pietta's Great Western II catalog, imported from Italy and distributed in the US via EMF and others. The original 'Posse' (2018) uses a round 3.5-inch barrel and blued-steel trigger guard; the later 'Posse II' (2022) features an octagonal 3.5-inch barrel and a brass trigger guard. Offered in .45 Colt, .357 Magnum/.38 Special and 9mm Luger. Listed specifications are for the .45 Colt model; weight and overall length are estimates for the 3.5-inch configuration.
Background
The Posse channels the compact 'shopkeeper' and lawman revolvers of the Old West, where a shorter barrel meant a faster draw and easier carry. As a modern reproduction of 'The Gun That Won the West' with the reliability of hammer-forged steel, it is favored by Cowboy Action Shooting competitors and Western reenactors who want an authentic 1873 Colt pattern in a handier size.
