Overview
The Pindad SS2-V2 is the carbine variant of Indonesia's second-generation service rifle, replacing the FN FNC-derived SS1 from 2006 onwards. It retains the SS2's gas-operated long-stroke piston action and rotating bolt while shortening the barrel to 403 mm and the overall length to 920 mm for use by mechanized infantry, vehicle crews, and law enforcement. Compared to the SS1, the SS2 family offers improved accuracy, lighter weight, and STANAG magazine compatibility.

Notes
Indonesian Army shooters using the SS2 have repeatedly placed at the top of the ASEAN Armies Rifle Meet (AARM), where the SS2-V2 and SS2-V4 are commonly used by the gold-medal-winning Indonesian team.
Background
Although Indonesia's military marksmanship reputation lagged for decades, after fielding the SS2 the Indonesian team won the ASEAN Armies Rifle Meet so consistently that other ASEAN militaries demanded the rifle be inspected for irregularities - none were found.
