POF P415
Patriot Ordnance Factory · Carbine · In Production · 2008
Also known as: POF P-415, Patriot P415
Overview
The POF-USA P415 is a short-stroke gas piston AR-15 pattern carbine featuring several proprietary innovations developed by Patriot Ordnance Factory. The rifle's defining feature is the patented E² dual-extraction technology, which incorporates four small channels cut into the chamber walls that allow a small amount of gas to push the case away from the chamber during extraction, significantly reducing extraction failures. The P415 uses a short-stroke gas piston system with a three-position adjustable gas block, allowing the operator to tune the rifle for different ammunition types and suppressed/unsuppressed use. The 16.5-inch barrel features a 1:8 twist rate optimized for a wide range of bullet weights. The rifle includes a heat-sink barrel nut that rapidly dissipates heat away from the barrel, maintaining accuracy during sustained fire. POF's anti-tilt buffer tube and 9-position buttstock provide enhanced shooter comfort and consistency. The P415 Edge variant features a 14.5-inch M-LOK free-float rail, ambidextrous safety selector, and a drop-in 4.5-pound trigger.

Notes
POF-USA holds multiple patents for their innovations including the E² extraction system, roller cam pin, and heat-sink barrel nut. The E² system was developed after extensive testing showed that traditional AR extractors can fail under adverse conditions or with dirty chambers. The four relief cuts in the chamber allow case expansion gases to flow between the case and chamber wall, preventing stuck cases. The roller cam pin reduces friction and wear on the bolt carrier during cycling. The P415 uses a 7075-T6 aluminum receiver set with Type III hard coat anodizing. All POF rifles include a lifetime warranty. The company manufactures most components in-house at their Phoenix, Arizona facility.
Background
Patriot Ordnance Factory was founded by aerospace engineer Frank DeSomma, who applied aerospace manufacturing principles to firearms production. The company's motto 'Innovation not Imitation' reflects their philosophy of developing proprietary solutions rather than copying existing designs. POF rifles are known for attention to detail, with features like precisely timed muzzle brakes and match-grade triggers becoming standard rather than optional upgrades.
