Notes

The 'i' suffix denotes the direct (improved) impingement operating system that distinguishes it from the heavier, piston-driven original SIG716. Trigger spec is conflicting across sources: tested units measured a single-stage ~6 lb 2 oz pull, while some SIG marketing cites a two-stage Matchlite Duo. Effective range not authoritatively published.

Background

The SIG716i extended SIG's value-priced TREAD line into .30 caliber in 2020; it is the civilian sibling of the piston-driven SIG716 supplied under SIG's 2019 contract to provide roughly 72,400 rifles to the Indian Army.
