SIG Sauer P226-X Legion

SIG Sauer · Pistol · In Production · 2024

Also known as: P226X Legion, P226-X Legion, P226 X Legion

Overview

The SIG Sauer P226-X Legion is the latest evolution of the P226 Legion platform, combining the classic DA/SA P226 action with X-Series ergonomic enhancements and the weight-optimizing TXG tungsten-infused grip module. Introduced in 2024, the P226-X Legion features a 112mm match-grade bull barrel with a 35/35-degree reverse target crown, an alloy frame finished in Legion Gray Cerakote, and an 18+1 flush-fit magazine capacity. The AX2 adjustable DA/SA trigger system allows shooters to fine-tune trigger take-up, overtravel, and reset to their preference. At 1202 grams unloaded, the pistol is notably heavier than the standard P226 Legion due to the tungsten-infused TXG grip panels, which shifts the center of gravity lower in the hand and significantly reduces felt recoil. The optics-ready slide features a factory cut compatible with SIG-LOC PRO red dot mounting systems, and the X-RAY3 day/night sights provide high visibility in all lighting conditions. The P226-X Legion represents a premium, competition-capable DA/SA pistol that bridges the gap between duty use and competitive shooting.

Notes

The P226-X Legion was released alongside the P226-XCarry Legion as part of SIG Sauer's NEXT product launch event. The key differentiator from the earlier P226 Legion is the TXG tungsten-infused grip module, which adds approximately 267 grams (9.4 oz) compared to standard G-10 grips, bringing total empty weight to 42.4 ounces. This additional mass is strategically placed below the bore axis to aid in recoil management. The AX2 trigger system replaces the earlier Grayguns P-SAIT trigger found on the original P226 Legion, offering three adjustment points. The bull barrel design eliminates the need for a barrel bushing and contributes to the pistol's match-grade accuracy. The P226-X is available in both DA/SA and SAO configurations, with the SAO variant featuring an AX3 three-way fully adjustable flat-faced trigger and a manual thumb safety. MSRP is approximately $1,700-$1,900.

Background

The P226-X Legion represents SIG Sauer's commitment to evolving the classic P226 platform while maintaining the DA/SA hammer-fired action that has made it a favorite of military special operations and competitive shooters for decades. The TXG tungsten grip technology was originally developed for the P320 X-Five Legion competition pistol and was brought to the P226 platform due to overwhelming demand from Legion community members who wanted the recoil-reducing benefits on the classic P226 frame.
