Overview
The Udav SR1MP is a Russian 9x21mm Gyurza semi-automatic pistol developed by TsNIITochMash to replace the Makarov PM in Russian military service. It uses a short-recoil, hammer-fired action with a polymer frame, an 18-round double-stack magazine, ambidextrous controls and an accessory rail, and is designed to defeat body armour at combat ranges with high-penetration cartridges.

Background
The Udav was developed to give Russian troops a pistol that could punch through modern body armour, firing a 9x21mm round powerful enough that the gun is sometimes described as a 'body-armour killer' rather than a conventional sidearm.
