Overview
The Škorpion vz. 83 is the .380 ACP (9x17mm) export variant of the Czechoslovak vz. 82 machine pistol. Mechanically identical to the vz. 82, it retains the closed-bolt blowback action, in-grip rate reducer, and side-folding wire stock, but is chambered for the Western .380 ACP cartridge to suit export markets where the 9x18mm Makarov round was uncommon.

One of a family of Skorpion vz. 82 export chamberings (the vz. 68 in 9x19mm and vz. 83 in .380 ACP). Lower muzzle velocity than the 9x18mm vz. 82.
Background
Czechoslovakia rechambered its pocket-sized Skorpion in Western .380 ACP purely to sell it abroad, where the Eastern-Bloc 9x18mm Makarov round was hard to come by.
