Overview
The ZEV FDP-Carbine is the stocked/SBR configuration of ZEV Technologies' Folding Defensive Platform (FDP), a compact 9mm 'briefcase gun' developed in collaboration with Magpul and shipped in 2026. Built around a 7.052-inch 416 stainless steel barrel and a blowback action, it folds flat to roughly 11.5 inches long and 1.5 inches wide for discreet transport, then deploys into a shoulderable carbine. It runs Glock-pattern magazines (shipping with two Magpul PMAG 21 GL9s), features fully ambidextrous controls including a reversible magazine release and ambidextrous charging system, a full-length 1913 Picatinny top rail, and an integrated carry handle housing adjustable iron sights.

Notes
Deployed overall length approximately 20.1-20.9 inches; folded approximately 10.75-11.5 inches long, 1.5 inches wide, 6.4-6.75 inches high. Slide is 17-4 stainless steel and the frame is machined 4140 steel; all steel components are black-nitrided. The carbine/SBR and braced-pistol versions share the same MSRP (~$1,699). Trigger is Magpul's high-performance unit.
Background
Conceived as a modern 'briefcase gun,' the FDP folds into a flat slab small enough to disappear into a bag - a civilian-market homage to the folding submachine guns and Magpul's own fictional FMG-9 concept that first teased the idea years earlier.
