Overview
The Serdyukov SPS Gyurza is the adopted service designation of the Russian 9x21mm Gyurza semi-automatic pistol developed by Pyotr Serdyukov at TsNIITochMash to defeat body armour and light vehicle protection. Officially named SPS (Samozaryadny Pistolet Serdyukova) on its 2003 government adoption, it uses a short-recoil action with a tilting locking block beneath the barrel, a hammer-fired double-action mechanism, an automatic grip safety and an 18-round double-stack magazine.

SPS is the official military and police designation of the pistol marketed by TsNIITochMash as the SR-1 Vektor. It was first issued to the FSB under the Gyurza name from 1996 and standardised as the SPS in 2003. The high-pressure 9x21mm Gyurza armour-piercing round drives the loaded weight up near 1.2 kg.
