Also known as: Gyurza, SPS, SR-1M, Vektor, Samozaryadny Pistolet Serdyukova
Overview
The SR-1M Vektor is the improved current-production version of the Russian 9x21mm Gyurza semi-automatic pistol developed by Pyotr Serdyukov at TsNIITochMash to defeat body armour and light cover. It retains the short-recoil action with a tilting locking block beneath the barrel and a hammer-fired double-action mechanism, while adding refined ergonomics over the original SR-1. The pistol has an automatic grip safety, an internal firing pin safety, a Glock-style trigger safety and an 18-round double-stack magazine that releases the slide automatically on insertion.

Notes
SR-1M is the TsNIITochMash commercial designation for the pistol adopted by the Russian military and security services as the SPS (Samozaryadny Pistolet Serdyukova). The high-pressure 9x21mm Gyurza armour-piercing round (SP-10/SP-11/SP-12) drives the loaded weight up near 1.2 kg. The later SR-1MP Vektor adds an accessory rail and a slide milled for a reflex sight.
Background
Named after the 'Gyurza', a venomous Central Asian viper, the pistol is best known as the sidearm of Russian presidential and VIP bodyguards, prized for a 9x21mm armour-piercing cartridge that can defeat body armour and light cover at typical handgun ranges.
